Duration
The title of Qualified Engineer (ingénieur diplômé) is awarded after 5 years of study following advanced secondary education (Master's Degree level).

Pre-requisites
There are various routes to take: competitions on the basis of tests or academic records at different levels from Bac to Bac +4 (from school-leavers to four years of university studies), depending on the School.

Further study and/or Job opportunities
The main objective of this course is immediate employability. However, possibilities of completing it with a DRT (Diplôme de Recherche Technologique / Diploma in Technological Research) or a PhD are offered.

Pathways
The Engineering course can be accessed based on academic record assessment, from university Bachelor's to Master's Degree level (see "Polytech Passport" [Passeport Polytech] under the Bachelor's Degree in "Science, Technology and Health" at the UJF). In certain cases, engineering students may study for a double Master's Degree.

Educational approach
The course aims to train managers with a general, scientific and technological educational background, which is perfectly suited to meet business needs. It can be more or less general or specialised depending on the Engineering School. The approach is extremely varied.
At the UJF, students study for the Engineer's Degree within the Polytech'Grenoble (Ecole polytechnique de l'Université de Grenoble 1).

From Bac +2 to Bac +5 (second to fifth year of university studies), scientific and technological education, constantly being updated, is complemented by a course in company organisation and economics as well as human resources management and coordination. Particular attention is paid to the teaching of languages, with a minimum level of proficiency in English being required in order to obtain the degree. The course also includes projects and internships within companies, in France or abroad, in the first, second and third years of study, totalling eight to ten months.
