With more than 50 laboratories which host 2,000 PhD students, the Université Joseph Fourier has developed top level research and is involved in significant collaboration between national research organisations and large instrument organisations situated in the Grenoble area (European synchrotron radiation facility, Institut Laue Langevin).

  • The UJF's Green Plan 

    Improvement of the surroundings for students, staff and other users of its campuses, as well as compliance with the Grenelle Environment Forum and participation in the global effort to limit climate change are all objectives that are prompting the UJF to make a strong commitment to a policy of sustainable development. In an effort to nurture this ambition, the UJF is implementing a "Green Plan".

200th anniversary

The Grenoble Faculty of Science will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2011!
On the programme:

  • a round table conference about the University's place in the city

The Université Joseph Fourier has already enjoyed much success - 10 top ranking facilities, 8 top ranking laboratories, 2 IRTs (Instituts de Recherche Technologique / Institutes of Technological Research) and 2 IEEDs (Instituts d'excellence en énergies décarbonnées / Top Ranking Institutes for Low-Carbon Energy).
